Job Description

The Cloud  Engineer will work from home, our Bucharest or Cluj offices, or from any other place considered suitable for a working environment. The person who will join this role will report to an IT Delivery Manager from Romania.

Accountable for leading the planning, design, and engineering of enterprise-level infrastructure and platforms. Infrastructure includes hardware, operation systems, database management systems, network and security. IT deployments may involve Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). Has significant experience in system development and has developed broad and deep expertise in software, hardware, data structures, integration, communications technology, as well as other emerging services across multiple platforms. Works closely with Architects and Management to ensure the designs align with the technological and business directions of the enterprise. The work focuses on the overall design, build, and integration of solutions or platforms spanning multiple complex technical and/or business capability domains with significant cost / strategic implications. Solutions typically consist of unproven implementation technologies or multiple implementation techs at once within domains that experience rapid change.

We are passionate Engineers in a small but efficient team spread across US, Romania and India. Our mission is to ensure the patterns designed by architecture teams are implemented across the entire organization in a standardized and automated manner.

In our day to day work, we’re combining several tools and skills to help teams onboard their applications to cloud. We’re providing turn-key solutions for managing their Landing Zones and delivering their applications in a standardized manner while ensuring they meet our organization’s security requirements and industry’s best practices. The delivery of our work is mostly done with the help of automated pipelines.

We’re tracking all our work in Jira and Confluence, following the Scrum Agile methodology.

Responsibilities

Technical Design, Development & Problem Solving:

• Provide recommendations on architectural changes in order to improve efficiency, reliability and performance and to reduce cost

• Explore and recommend new technologies/services. Articulate the advantages of various solution options

• Define platform software engineering standards and ensure compliance

• Ability to independently develop algorithms and deliver results in production environments at scale.

• Ability to take on proof of concepts to proof new technologies

• Problem solve with little to no guidance

• Collaborate with Cloud/DevOps engineers to solve technical and design problems

• Conduct and oversee design & code reviews 

Execution & Delivery:

• Provide technical leadership for complex, long term initiatives

• Understand context of the work rather than just focusing on what is assigned.

• Excellent communicator and collaborates well with people inside the team and in other organizations.

• Provide communication to leadership on progress & gaps.

• Write clean, high-performance, well tested infrastructure code with a focus on reusability and automation (e.g. Shell, Python, Golang, Puppet, Terraform etc...)

Software Engineering Excellence:

• Collaborate with colleagues, share ideas, and contribute to the overall success of the group by enforcing software engineering standards.

• Leads research and initiatives pushing the boundaries for solutions solving technical problems.

• Leads the team and coaches other members on creating efficient and high performing frameworks.

• Leads and implements best practices for continuous delivery and continuous integration frameworks.

Leadership:

• Mentor all team members regardless of their level

• Partner with business stakeholders and product managers to define project timelines and deliverable at each project stage.

• Awareness and involvement in identifying the resources which would be required for project delivery.

• Leads the team on technical decisions and helps drive other team members towards solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent, 8 years in architecting and implementing fully automated (IaC/Terraform), secure, reliable, scalable & resilient multi-cloud/hybrid-cloud solution.

• 3+ Years of experience in Azure cloud

• Subject matter expert in Cloud Security and/or Cloud Networking - Preferred to have Azure Speciality certification

• Experience with network infrastructure (e.g. setting up and managing firewalls, WAFs, network segregation, network sharing, VPNs and network ACLs)

• Experience with DevOps concepts, tools (containers, (CI/CD - Github, Github Action, Jenkins, Artifactory, Ansible, etc.) and emerging technologies

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Microservices architecture

• Experience with on-prem to cloud migration

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Able to thrive in a collaborative and cross-functional environment

• Familiar with Agile methodology concepts

Nice to have:

• Azure certification (e.g., Solution Architect, Developer, Administrator, DevOps)

• CKA Certification (preferred) - Certified Kubernetes Administrator or CKAD - Certified Kubernetes Application Developer

• Good understanding of REST API concepts

• Experience with Github and Github Actions
