Data Architect (Enterprise Architecture)

Key Goal: The enterprise architect for Data Domain will be responsible for evaluating and benchmarking new data management technologies and enabling MassMutual to make high impact, long-term decisions around design, procurement, and deployment of data storage and data processing technologies that underpin the data analytics, reporting, ETL and data integration pipeline, streaming and data science capabilities at MassMutual.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical evaluations and benchmarking of core data technologies including query engines, storage platforms, and big data computing frameworks.
• Define patterns, standards and guidance on data architecture, positioning of data platforms and integration tools, data storage and ETL processes.
• Define architecture standards, guidelines, and processes to ensure data quality, metadata management, data governance and security.
• Promote the value of IT architecture governance and design deliverables across the organization.
• Maintain an awareness of industry landscape and external trends for the data domain. Thought leadership and active participation in conferences and research with strategic partners, industry forums and academic institutions.
• Create and maintain current- and target-state data architectures for data capabilities along with capability.
• Support the functional leaders to build, lead, develop, appraise, and motivate a team of architects that it can satisfy the accountabilities described above through federated architecture community of practice.
• Create the information architecture and information management strategy for the organization, such that these create a foundation for future investment in business intelligence and machine learning.
• Collaborate with business and enterprise architects to communicate data architecture strategies, standards, and direction, understand the implications of other domain architectures on information architecture and maximize the value of information across the organization.

Experience

• Experience working as a data analyst, or in designing and implementing information solutions.
• More than five years of experience in information architecture or minimum five to seven years’ experience as a data analyst, business intelligence analyst, or equivalent roles.
• Knowledge in user experience modeling, information design, and concept generation.
• Hands-on experience with implementing data and analytics management programs is a plus.
• System integration experience, including interface design, and familiarity with web-oriented architecture techniques.
• Understanding of metamodels, taxonomies, ontologies, and challenges of applying structured techniques (data modeling) to less-structured sources.
• IT Solutions Architecture or business consulting experience preferred.
• Preferred job experience includes some knowledge of Insurance and Financial Industry
