Reporting to: Head of Data Services & Platforms Engineering
Department Name: Product Data Services
Location: Bucharest, Ro
Key Goal: Responsible for the technical development of Product Designer, a fintech solution focused on managing product data.

The Back End Developer will work from our Bucharest office while collaborating with the Global MassMutual teams. The person who will join this role will report to an IT Delivery Manager from Romania.

The ideal candidate for this role is a hands-on software engineer who can work both independently and as part of a team under the guidance of a Technical Lead. The main responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining scalable back-end solutions for Product Designer.
Responsibilities
The Back-End Developer will play a key role in:
Designing and implementing scalable back-end solutions for product data workflows.
Collaborating with Enterprise Architects and Back-End Developers to ensure system reliability, security, and maintainability.
Collaborating with Front-End Developers to define API contracts and ensure efficient data retrieval.
Analyzing existing system capabilities, identifying areas for enhancement, and implementing modifications to meet evolving business needs.
Document key technical implementations and decisions to support development and system understanding.
Requirements
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving mindset
A curious and proactive attitude, with a drive to explore new technologies
Ability to questions assumptions and seek a deeper understanding of technical and business challenges
Experienced with Java 17, Spring Boot, Spring Framework
Experienced with NoSQL (MongoDB) and SQL (DB2, Postgres) databases
Experienced with REST and GraphQL API
Experienced with build systems: Gradle and Maven
Experienced with testing paradigms and technologies (Junit5, Mockito)
Knowledge of Spark, EMR and other large scale ETL technologies
Knowledge of CI & CD (Git, Jenkins, Artifactory)
Experience with AWS Services (S3, EMR, EKS, ALB, etc.)
Understanding of OKTA, IAM in AWS and Security implementations.
Strong technical acumen in implementing enterprise applications and software integration
Strong knowledge of OOP and clean code/clean architecture principles
Ability to create clear and structured technical documentation
Education and experience
BS/BA required
Minimum 5 years as a back-end developer designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining large scale applications
Minimum 5 years of experience implementing large scale enterprise solution in J2EE and Data Integration
Minimum 3 years of experience in Java 17, Spring, Hibernate, AWS Services, Docker/Kubernetes
Minimum 3 years of experience in relational and No SQL databases
Independent and self-starter with extensive experience in an agile/adaptable environment
