Business System Analyst ( Product Data Services)

Job Description

The Product Data Services Team is a cross-disciplined technology team that partners closely with Product Teams. Our team leverages a broad set of business knowledge, data and technical skills to ensure quality delivery of solutions that enhance the enterprise experience.  The team is located globally across US, Romania and India.

The Product Data Services Team is seeking a Business Systems Analyst, with high proficiency in data, who is comfortable with tabular structured data, key data, data integrity, data governance, and impact analysis.  Once ramped up, they will be accountable for consulting Product Teams on how product and fund data is currently configured, and how new products and funds need to be differentiated to meet the needs of projects and go forward. When data changes are required, the BSA will:

• Review project requirements to determine the proper configuration of product and fund data in line with specifications

• Identify and address any gaps in the existing project documentation with the Product Team to ensure accurate data configuration

• Implement the data changes and perform the necessary impact analysis to ensure new products work as designed and there is no breakage to existing products

• Collaborate to ensure changes are deployed into lower environments during Development/Testing phases

• Collaborate to ensure changes are promoted to Production by project delivery dates

• Rectify and mitigate any unanticipated issues arising from data changes or deployments in a timely fashion, should they cause breakages in Production, and support critical milestone dates during the Development/Testing phases for major initiatives

• Think and lead like an owner of a Master Data or Reference Data Application to ensure quality data and product

• Test and sign off on any defect fixes and enhancements, working closely with the development team to do so.

The Impact:

• Actively participate in requirement gathering sessions, using business acumen, analysis, communication, and leadership skills to consult with teams on new and existing product and fund data

• Work with various roles which include Project Managers, Data Analysts, Product Owners, Developers, and QA/Testers

• Test and validate bug fixes and enhancements, ensuring all deliverables meet system needs and quality before sign-off.

Requirements

Competencies:

• Strong data analysis skills – able to interpret complex datasets and identify patterns

• Curious to understand data flows and dependencies – proactive in tracing how data moves across systems and processes, identifying downstream impact to ensure consistency and accuracy

• Highly organized and detail-oriented – capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously while ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in every task

• Comfortable working in fast-paced, changing environments with shifting priorities

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills – able to partner effectively with a range of roles and stakeholders, including PMs, BAs, developers, testers and business teams

• Resourceful problem-solver – skilled at leveraging available information, collaborating with product teams, and applying critical thinking to drive clarity and address gaps

• Ability to create and present documentation that captures how data is set up, including data mappings, configurations, and decisions

• Ownership mentality to drive work independently and in a timely manner, proactively removing blockers

• Understanding of their own limitations and where they should seek guidance

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3+ years’ experience as a technical systems or data analyst, with expertise in supporting product development

• Experience with querying in relational and non-relational DBs

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (lookups, formulas) to support data analysis and reporting

• Experience with Reference Data or Master Data Management and/or Data Governance

• Experience working across cross-functional teams

• Familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and the ability to adapt to different delivery approaches.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence

• Insurance knowledge to better contextualize data
