As a Senior GL Accountant, you will work from our Bucharest office while collaborating with the Global MassMutual financial teams, assuring that the Company is in compliance with internal and external financial obligations. The person who will join this role will report to a local manager based in Bucharest.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly journal entries relating to amortization, depreciation, accruals, and a variety of other information, as well as preparing reports. Ensure that entries align with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Performing account analysis to ensure that journal entries and balances are correct.
• Reconciling accounts with the general ledger to ensure that all entries are accurate and that transactions are reported in accordance with accounting standards and government regulations.
• Maintain detailed listings of the contents of all balance sheet accounts.
• Review journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded correctly in both statutory and US GAAP books.
• Support proper document flow to ensure tax and accounting compliance to local statutory requirements.
• Ensuring that financial information complies with professional and regulatory standards.
• Performing audits on financial data to assure its accuracy and truthfulness.
• Support Monthly and Annual Close Processes.
• Collaborating with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information.
• Aligning general ledger accounting practices to support budgeting and forecasting.
• Assist auditors with journal entry examinations.
• Assist in the production of financial statements.
• Coordinates together with Head of Accounting and Tax in relation with external auditors and the timely and complete response to external audit requirements
• Assists in implementation of SAP modules for Romanian operation, for Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, and connection to Procurement module.
• Contribute to company's accounting, tax, and general policies

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in accounting, or in a related specialization.
• At least 2 years’ experience in general ledger accounting, or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting standards and regulations.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Time-management and organizational skills; Problem-solving skills.
• Accounting functions –have knowledge of technical accounting functions and are experienced in financial record keeping and bookkeeping.
• Working experience in an international environment.
• US GAAP/IFRS knowledge recommended.
• Digital skills: Good Microsoft Office Suite knowledge.
• Fluent in English is mandatory.
• SAP experience is a plus.
• NextUP knowledge is a plus.
