Tax & GL Specialist

Job Description

As a Tax & GL Specialist, you will work from our Bucharest office while collaborating with the Global MassMutual financial teams, assuring that the Company is in compliance with internal and external financial obligations. The person who will join this role will report to a local manager based in Bucharest.

Responsibilities

• Support proper document flow to ensure tax and accounting compliance to local statutory requirements
• Check and provide sign off for the VAT, corporate income tax, and other statutory tax returns in compliance with local regulations
• Support tax audits and liaise with tax authorities as needed
• Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business
• Assist with transfer pricing documentation and intercompany transactions
• Prepare monthly journal entries relating to amortization, depreciation, accruals, and a variety of other information, as well as preparing reports. Ensure that entries align with generally accepted accounting principles and the right Tax treatment
• Performing account analysis to ensure that journal entries (also from Tax perspective) and balances are correct
• Reconciling accounts with the general ledger to ensure that all entries are accurate and that transactions are reported in accordance with accounting standards and government regulations
• Maintain detailed listings of the contents of all balance sheet accounts
• Review journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded correctly in both statutory and US GAAP books
• Review month-end reevaluations to ensure FX calculations are accurate in both statutory and US GAAP books
• Support the manager with monthly cost allocations to facilitate invoice preparation
• Ensuring that financial information complies with professional and regulatory standards
• Performing audits on financial data to assure its accuracy and truthfulness
• Support Monthly and Annual Close Processes
• Collaborating with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information
• Aligning general ledger accounting practices to support budgeting and forecasting.
• Assist auditors with journal entry examinations
• Assist in the production of financial statements
• Coordinates together with Head of Accounting and Tax in relation with external auditors and the timely and complete response to external audit requirements
• Assists in implementation of SAP modules for Romanian operation, for Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, and connection to Procurement module
• Contribute to company's accounting, tax, and general policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in Finance, Accounting, or in a related specialization
• At least 2 years’ experience in Taxes and General Ledger Accounting, or similar
• In-depth knowledge of Tax regulations and accounting standards
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Time-management and organizational skills
• Problem-solving skills
• Communication skills
• Working experience in an international environment
• US GAAP/IFRS knowledge recommended.
• Digital skills: Good Microsoft Office Suite knowledge
• Fluent in English is mandatory
• SAP experience is recommended.
