Barings’ Global Technology and Operations division is seeking an experienced individual to join its Database Administration (DBA) team.

As a member of the DBA team, you will be part of a fast-paced environment that services developers and application support teams from around the globe.
You will be responsible for working with these application teams to help with coding standards, performance tuning and implementing changes to the data tier of our business applications.

Responsibilities:
• Day to day support of Barings’ database environment. This will include the implementation of change requests and work orders through testing and into production environments.
• Work with the development teams to ensure their adherence to coding standards and help with performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Support of Business Intelligence services such as Reporting Services, Integration Services and Analytic Services.
• Monitoring the availability of the Barings database environments to ensure uptime SLAs are being met.
• Continuously monitoring of Barings database environment and providing database performance tuning as appropriate.
• Provide 3rd level technical support for all components of the Barings database environment. This will include some off-hours work to support Barings offices located in other geographic areas. This will also include participation in an on-call rotation as well to support overnight batch processing.
• The design, implementation, and documentation of a disaster recovery solution for the SQL server environment to ensure the successful and rapid recovery of all applications.
• Adhere to, and enforce, change control processes throughout the application deployment cycle.
• Adhere to and apply security standards across the Barings database environment.
• Work with developers and application support teams on the creation and implementation of new databases, or modifications to existing ones.
• Day to Day support of Barings database environments.

Knowledge and skills:
• Experience working in environments that require strict adherence to change control policies.
• At least 3 to 5 years of development and administration experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or newer edition.
• Experience using the SQL Client Tools for administering Microsoft SQL 2016 and above, or newer, databases.
• Experience working in a fast-paced development environment.
• Experience working with developers to ensure coding standards and helping with performance tuning and troubleshooting SQL code is highly desirable.
• Good knowledge and understanding of TSQL queries, Stored Procedures, Views and Functions is required.
• Experience conducting SQL code reviews and making recommendations for tuning and optimization.
• Experience with creating and testing Backup and Recovery processes for Microsoft SQL environments.
• Experience implementing high availability options such as Microsoft SQL Server Clustering, Replication, Mirroring and Always-On.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and above.
• With a focus on time-to-market the associate must have time-management and organization skills to prioritize effectively and manage information flow in order to meet deadlines.
• Experience managing Azure database environments is a must have.
o Azure Data factory ETL processing
o Azure Synapse Data Warehouse
o Azure Security management
o Azure SQL Backup and Recovery management
o Azure Databricks
• MS and Azure certifications required.


Preferred
• Experience of supporting Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktop.
• Microsoft PowerShell experience is required.
• Experience automating SQL routines is desirable.
• Experience working in environments that require strict adherence to change control policies.


Nice to have:
• Experience implementing CI\CD practices to optimize SQL routines a plus.
• Experience managing and supporting ADF pipelines in Azure a plus.
• Experience managing Accounts and Workspace Security in Azure Databricks Will be a plus.
• Experience managing Catalogs, Clusters, and SQL code changes in Azure Databricks will be a plus.
