We are seeking a highly motivated Cloud Operations Engineer with a strong understanding of technology infrastructure who will be responsible for the production operations of our Azure Cloud platform ensuring appropriate levels of observability are in place to provide a secure, resilient, and performant platform for applications hosted.

Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of incidents and requests in the Cloud Hosting Services queues.  Respond as level 1/2 support for incidents. And implement requests as needed.
• Understand software life cycle principle.
• Develop and maintain automation for monitoring and optimizing systems – embracing self-service and autonomy.
• Configure and deploy monitoring tools and scripts to ensure appropriate observability of the hosting platforms and resources.
• Willing to implement security concepts to complete application stacks using cloud services.
• Collaborate closely with Cloud Architects and Cloud Engineers to ensure hosting capabilities are released with appropriate observability and availability, adopting SRE principles to reduce toil and focus CloudOps engineering efforts.
• Recommend tools and methodologies to support Cloud Platform operations, helping to implement Site Reliability Engineering principles where appropriate.
• Partner with Development teams, CyberSecurity, Support and Enterprise Architecture teams to deliver and maintain a secure and compliant hosting platform through vulnerability management and adherence to security baselines.
• Participate in annual disaster recovery tests.
• Join the on-call rota to support the highly available products developed by the team.

Knowledge and skills:

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure products and capabilities
• An engineering mindset that is focused on quality and a test first philosophy, regardless of the activity.
• Confident in designing monitoring and logging, gathering metrics, and log aggregation platforms.
• Good understanding of networking and distributed systems: routing, firewalls, DNS, PKI, TLS, CDNs.
• Enjoy working as part of a team and teaching others.
• Have experience with reducing toil required by internal teams through building and maintaining automation and observability tooling.
• Experience with Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Understanding of markup languages such as YAML and JSON.
• Strong understanding Azure Networking and Security.
• Experience of operational best practices including incident response and analysis.
• Experience automating administrative functions using tools such as PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Terraform.
• Experience with all aspects of Cloud service models and application delivery such as PaaS, Serverless and Containerization infrastructure.
• Experience using Azure monitor and the various diagnostic capabilities in Azure such as Diagnostic Settings and Application Insights.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines – Azure DevOps Pipelines, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc
• Experience with 3rd party observability tools for monitoring Cloud resources. – logic monitor, etc.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills including written, verbal, and presentations in English.
• Strong work ethics.
• Basic understanding of application API's and their operations (PUSH, GET etc)
• Understanding to use (monitoring) Azure Kubernetes Services.
• Sometimes you will need to work also for on Prem infra, but similar with what’s requested above.
